Erwin Mortelmans

Commercial Director Port of Duqm

Erwin Mortelmans has been the Commercial Director of Port of Duqm since June 2015.  In this role, he leads the commercial and marketing team that is responsible for the overall commercial representation of the company in its function as a port authority, terminal operator (multipurpose, liquid bulk, RORO, dry bulk, navy and containers) and landlord of the industrial and logistical areas the Port covers under the concessions it has been granted.

Before joining Port of Duqm, Erwin fulfilled various commercial business development and managerial roles during 8 years of service for Oiltanking, one of the leaders in the liquid bulk storage industry, including a passage of almost 6 years in Oman and UAE. These experiences have provided him with a sound knowledge of global oil & gas and (petro)chemical flows, as well as a profound understanding of the dynamics of the major Middle Eastern and East African ports in relation to their hinterland and surrounding regions.

Prior to this, Erwin was a business development manager for 7 years for a major Japanese trading company, where he launched and marketed a portfolio of organic and inorganic chemical, raw materials used in a wide variety of industries within Europe, Asia and the Middle East.  Erwin started his career in his home country, Belgium, where he worked for four years as Commercial Manager for a leading industrial glass manufacturing company after obtaining a degree in Business Engineering at the University of Antwerp.
