Founded in 1957 by a group of Master Mariners and registered under the Company's Act of 1956, 'The Company of Master Mariners of India' is a professional body representing Master Mariners with the purpose of developing and promoting the traditions and standards of the Merchant Navy in India. Today it is the only body of its kind in India with 15 chapters, 2 overseas chapters and over 3500 members. CMMI provides a valuable service to the seafarers in India through various activities such as conducting educational seminars, publishing books and magazines, advising and assisting the DGS and promoting the Merchant Navy as a career option for youngsters.
