A highly educated project management professional with extensive experience, Rafael Vicens began his career as a civil engineer, working as senior site manager with Carbonell Figueras on projects for clients including Alstom and Siemens in Europe. The job of deputy general manager with Islas Engineering and Consulting brought him to the Middle East in 2010 to lead the company’s commercial activities, opening the India and the Egypt markets and bringing projects to the company in excess of US$15m. Moving to ALE in 2011, Vicens worked on a number of large projects in the Middle East first as a project manager, progressing to contracts/business development manager and finally as regional commercial manager before joining Panalpina in 2018. He holds his MSc in Civil Engineering and a Master’s in Environmental Health and Safety along with Executive MBAs from the Business School Executive Program at Columbia University and the London Business School and is a Certified Project Management Professional.
