The Basra Multipurpose Terminal (BMT) prides itself as being the largest multipurpose terminal within the Umm Qasr Port. The Terminal is driven by a customer focused approach, with efficient one-stop tailored solutions for all breakbulk, project, general cargo, and containerised commodities, and where safety is a way of life.
BMT is part of the Terminal Investment Limited (TiL) Group, one of the largest and most geographically diverse terminal operators in the world and preferred operator for the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), itself the largest Container Shipping Line.
The Terminal provides the safest, most accomplished and reliable facility for all major shipping lines, inland transportation companies, as well as the Oil and Gas and Energy giants of Iraq, thanks to its capabilities and experiences in the handling of project cargo, heavy lift and other break bulk operations.
Possessing 800 metres of continuous linear quay, with an area stretching over 600,000 square metres of terminal space, including 45,000 square metres of ambient controlled warehouses, BMT’s operations are supported by an unrivalled equipment pool, enabling the discharge of up to 200 tonnes of a single piece, independent of the ships’ gear.
Operations are managed by the most experienced professionals of the region, setting many records, with the flawless handling of the longest, tallest, widest and heaviest cargoes ever received in Iraq.
