The Big Picture for Future Business Opportunities

Climbing the Ladder for Women in Breakbulk
On Wednesday morning, 10:00 GST, the discussion will turn female leaders in the industry who will share their experiences on their journeys to the top of their fields in the first of two live panels, and later discuss strategies for leading during a time of uncertainty based on their own experience during the pandemic and tips for how to help companies recover as they move into 2021. Breakbulk’s Marketing and Media Director will moderate both sessions.
In the first panel, “The Many Paths to Female Leadership: A Career Blueprint,” Ghazalah Moloobhoy, Director for Moloobhoy Marine Service; Rania Tadros, Managing Partner for Ince & Co. Middle East; Parisa Kaveh, General Manager, Nostrac Shipping Company; and Kateryna Yakunchenkova, General Manager at Al Safina Security will share their roads to leadership, discuss their biggest challenges and solutions and will offer female colleagues advice on how to boost their career trajectories into leadership roles. Viewers are encouraged to submit questions for the panellists, which will undoubtedly prove valuable to all that tune in.
During the second leadership session, a new group of panellists, including Jasmin Fichte, Managing Partner at Fichte & Co.; Noura Al Shamsi, Head of Community Engagement at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Sharjah; and Capt. Marwa El Selehdar, Chief Mate, Business Development Coordinator, International Forum for Maritime Transport, AASTMT; will address the big questions on everyone’s minds (male and female, alike):
Empowering the Next Generation of Breakbulk Professionals
Following on the successful delivery of Breakbulk Middle East Education Day in 2020, the Digital Special will present a segment to inform and support the region’s maritime students as they plan for their transition from student to employee. This session will be opened by H.E. Eng. Hessa Al Malek, Advisor to the Minister for Maritime Transport Affairs, The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, followed by Dr. Captain Ahmed Youssef, Associate Dean of the Maritime Transport Technology College, AASTS and Captain Sahar Rasti, CEO for SJR General Group.
Next will be a close-up look at the day in the life of various executives from across the industry designed to help students hone in on the sector that best fits their interests. Contributing to these videos will be representatives from Maersk, Petrofac, Mammoet and ASMEF. This group will then be available to answer students’ questions about the industry and their careers.
Executive Collaboration: Where do we go from here?
The Digital Special will wrap up with two concurrent executive roundtables, which will be by invitation-only. While not open to the public, the Breakbulk editorial team will report the findings from both sessions.
The first group led by Cyril Varghese, Global Logistics Director – Strategy & Commercial, from Fluor, a global engineering, procurement and construction company, will look at the realities of digitalisation across the industry—a process that has been accelerated by the pandemic but must not be left to linger once the COVID situation has been stabilized if companies want to remain competitive. Participants will be tasked with providing examples of best practice and ultimately come together to define what needs to be done to ensure the industry as a whole is prepared for the next 10 years.
The second roundtable will also look to the future with a focus on adapting to a changing cargo base in light of the drive toward reducing reliance on fossil fuels. The world is going green, but how will that affect cargoes themselves, a question that is vital to engineers, logistics professionals and specialized transport providers. Rafael Vicens, Head of Global Projects and Industry Solutions MEA, for DB Schenker will lead this session.
Registration is free and now open for the three public sessions.
