Lars is a Senior Ports and Shipping Executive with a deep understanding of the transport economics of emerging markets and both containerised and non-containerised transport . Lars has a proven record of developing assets and services in difficult conditions. 

After successful establishing and growing a MEA consulting portfolio, Lars has accepted the role of Managing Director, at RSGT MPT, to ensure successful startup and top-line growth, coupled with industry-leading operational excellence in the non-container terminals segment and good return on investment.

He has an entrepreneurial spirit with a clear passion for the industry and good experience sense of urgency and well developed aptitude to build and execute strategies in multifaceted environments. 

Lars has degrees in psychology and Shipping, as well as a masters degree in Shipping and International trade Law, from the University of Cape Town, and is a recognised authority on logistics and shipping in the developing world.

Red Sea Gateway Terminal was established at Jeddah Port in 2009 as Saudi Arabia's first private Build-Operate-Transfer enterprise. RSGT is now the largest container terminal operating company in KSA, with an annual container throughput capacity of 6.2 million TEU, and annual container volume exceeding 3 million TEU. The facility also offers Bulk, and Ro-Ro capability, as well as luxury cruise passenger terminal operations. A USD $1.7 billion infrastructure investment program currently underway will increase RSGT’s annual throughput capacity to 8.8 million TEU by 2030. RSGT has recently signed a 22-year concession to operate Patenga Container Terminal at Chittagong, Bangladesh.
