Marwa El Selehdar, Egypt's first female ship captain. Marwa has navigated her way through challenges to make waves in her career with a passion for the sea and a commitment to gender equality. Marwa, a graduate of the Arab Academy for Maritime Transport in 2013, she earned her MBA from Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2017 and a Gender Equality Diploma in 2023.

In 2017, she was honored on Women’s Day by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, recognizing her contributions. The Encyclopedia of Arab African Economic Integration also acknowledged her among the top 20 Arab women for her achievements.

Currently, Marwa is the Network Execution Manager with Hapag Lloyd in the Middle East, leveraging her experience to contribute to maritime success. As a proud member of the Arab Women in Maritime Association, she actively broke down barriers and foster equality in the sector.

Her mission extends beyond personal success. Her aim is to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable maritime industry. Together, we're dismantling barriers and celebrating the achievements of women in this dynamic field.
